Hi!
Two lists of country/region names exists in KDE now: in l10n and KAddressBook. They \
are about 200 messages each. l10n uses "Name=<Value>" form, but KAddressBook "Name" \
only form. Difference in forms create some minor problems during automatic \
translation and there lists is not 100 % same (maintaining them coherent will require \
additional attention).
I want two propose some life simplification for translators :-) with using only one \
list - from l10n.
Idea is to use code from KCMLocale for displaying contry/region names instead plain \
dropdown list. It was not easy to scroll ~ 200 names in searching for necessary one \
(in KDE 3.0). KCMLocale sort names by major regions what simplify search. \
Additionally KCMLocale have some eye candy with flags displaying.
Disadvantage of this idea - iterating throught all entry.desktop files will take more \
time then throught .mo file. Probably for avoid application start slowdown menus can \
be build not on start, but first time when user will want to use menus with \
country/region names.
This is just idea :-)
With best regards,
Eugene.
