Thanks Thomas,

Thats helps understand the situation.
And I am keen on working on it. Any additions url/resouce/code that you
can point me out to or send over that people used for Tamil will be a
great help.

May be lack of Qt will be a disadvantage but let see if its viable to
begin work on this project.

Thanks.

We are fully aware of the importance of Hindi and other Indian languages.
If you search for it in the archives of this list you will get around 160
    postings (http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-i18n-doc&w=2&r=1&s=hindi&q=b).
Problem is that Qt won't support these languages before 3.1, and even then
support will only be "basic" (whatever this means).

There was talk at times (also on kde-devel) it might be possible to set up a
workaround for Hindi like we have for Tamil. But I've never heard of any
    results.

Maybe you could go through the archives, create a list of people who showed
interest in working on Hindi and either coordinate their effort for a
workaround or prepare for the big day when Qt really supports Indic glyphs?

    Regards,
