Subject:    translation vs window sizing

The problem is that the windows are designed for the english language
and the widget sizes don't ever apply well to other languages.

What could be done to avoid this problem ? Automatically resize
(maximize a little) the window after the creation at runtime ?
Content-driven layout manager ?
