Looks like the established pattern. I expect the actual design work to
lie in deciding which objects are exported to QML, e.g. is there a
separate ball object or just some ballPos and ballVelocity properties?

These decisions we don't expect to happen in the proposal. The most
important thing here is knowing the problem well enough that you can
e.g. make reasonable estimates on which time you're going to spend.
