As far as our experience with step is concerned, the problem discussed in
the following thread is the problem that must be fixed.

I filed the bug just now, the bug number
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=267123

There are some situations when step hangs.  As soon as I come to know how to
reproduce hanging, i will report the bug.
