Hi all,

We have been very quiet these past weeks and maybe it's time to define what
we would like to work on for KDE-3.2 and maybe KDE-4.

Lindows contacted me yesterday and here what they said:
<quote>
Because Lindows.com is focused on the Desktop Linux market - and broad
acceptance of Linux by schools, families and business - we are quite
interested in the work of the KDE-Edu project. I think that before Linux
can really gain the foothold it needs in Education, that many more products
like "klearnspelling" need to emerge and thrive. We will continue to
"spotlight" good quality products in our Click-N-Run Warehouse, which as you
know is an extensive library and software distribution system for our
customers.

In fact, you might be interested to know that Lindows.com just recently
announced it's Education program, which demonstrates our commitment to the
important Educational software category.

This must be a boost for our work (personnally it cheered me up :-)

There is also a new GNU monthly column about Educational software, in
English and German and soon in French. I was thinking that it could replace
the monthly newsletter I was writing as it is exactly what I had in mind but
I did not manage to do it so well. It will be available via a mailing list
soon.

One of the first thing they presented is KDE-Edu software.

Education is slow on catching on in schools because of the grip Microsoft
have on schools and the lack of time from overworked teachers to look for
other solutions. But slowly things will change.

Personnally I have to improve KLettres for KDE-3.2, trying to switch to ogg
format and get better audio quality. Also write a better code. I am
currently working again on my very first program, Kard, which is a Memory
game for young kids. I am rewriting it for KDE3. I don't think it will be in
the kdeedu module, more in kdenonbeta but maybe I can put up a page on the
KDE-Edu website for it, with a link to a tarball. Would that be OK?
I plan to work on KLearnSpelling again as Lindows expressed interest in it
and I got a few mails from possible users as well.

BTW, Kig is very nice and helpded me recently demonstrating some
mathematical properties to my son who is not a math wizard.

That's all from me for now,

Anne-Marie
aka annma
