Hi all, Probably my last message before my move (I am surrounded by boxes...) I answered Marc following his mail proposing help and he replied. Eva: could you please arrange for a cvs acces? I'll ask him to send you the details. Scott: the flashkard doc is missing, he proposes to do it, do you agree? If yes, could someone please send him a docbook template? Thanks a lot and sorry to have to go away from KDE-Edu for some time... Cheers annma ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: Re: KDE edu involvement Date: Tue, 25 Jun 2002 13:55:43 +0100 From: Marc Wolf To: Anne-Marie Mahfouf Anne-Marie, Thanks for sending the information. The reason why I'm interrested in the KDE-Edu project is to combine two of my main interrest areas, i.e. Astronomy and Linux/KDE. This is the main reason why I would like to work on a project like Kstars. The other reason is kids. I would like to see many easy useable applications for children on a Linux box. My oldest daughter needs to learn her spelling and you Klearnspelling is a very easy nice idea. Also the Ktimes I do like, though could not yet compile it properly. This brings me already to some suggestions: - make children's application modular, so all these small apps can be integrated into a overall application - make the ktimes more general, so it is easy to perform other operations like add, substract, divide. - New game: memory for KDE (my other daughter likes to play it) - Picture puzzles - Time creator, nice ideas, but time.... I do have some limited coding experience (c, java, c++), so I'm eager to improve this skill. I think I'll start working on debugging/proposing some improvements on applications. If there is a particlar apps to be looked at let me know. Alfa, Beta testing of applications would be "joyfull". I'm familiar with CVS so I would like to apply for an CVS account. I'm not sure about the commit approval process. I assume that only the lead developers can commit changes to the code. I can start writting some docs for Flashkard, though I think I do understand the purpose of this application, it might be good idea to have some more background info on this application. If you can send me a empty template, I can start working on this doc if you can provide some background info, or contacts. Did download the mentioned modules and was able to compile most of the applications. I can also work on checking/creating distributions (SuSE rpm) if that is needed or do some web maintenance/CVS maintenance. Hopefully this will work out. Due to personal circumstances I do have sufficient spare time till end of July. (Back to regular work again) Kind regards, Marc On Saturday 22 June 2002 17:41, you wrote: > Hi! > > Thank you for your interest in the KDE-Edu project. > I don't know if you are familiar to KDE development so please forgive me if > you know the following. > You will need to get on your machine KDE from CVS HEAD which is the current > development version. > If you already are familiar to KDE and CVS and if you are ready to help > immediately then it's better to ask for a cvs account now.
