I think this could be important for each of us. annma ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: Re: [Fsfe-uk] Licence? For free vocab data files look at, http://octopus.schunter.etc.tu-bs.de/magic-dic/ (GPL data) http://download.travlang.com/Ergane/frames-en.html (Public Domain data) Regarding the use of data from books, individual word translations can be used from books but not entire sections (The data isn't copyrighted but the collection of data is). Also books out of copyright can be used for data (in the US this means mainly pre-1923 books). Have a look at project Gutenberg homepage for more information about finding out if a book is out of copyright. As to what licence you should do. I recommend you either put the data into the public domain (so anyone can do what they want with it) or under GPL (so any modifications will be contributed back). (Note: IANAL but I'm involved in several public domain & open source content projects and have some experience with the licencing/copyright issues) Imran -- http://www.bits.bris.ac.uk/imran/ ------------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________ kde-edu-devel mailing list kde-edu-devel@mail.kde.org http://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-edu-devel
