Hi all,

Sorry for my previous mail (Subject: cvs) that I sent as a reply of another
thread. I hope you all read it!

Here is a "road map" for more general stuff and for my own apps. Please read
the beginning nefore the line. Adventurous people are free to read 'till the
end!

- doc: see that each app in HEAD has its own doc in kdeedu/docs
(each app moved in HEAD should have its doc moved as well)

- implement the sub-entries in the K Menu for Edutainment that we discussed
previously. Make the subsequent changes in the Makefiles.

- I would like to use in all my apps KFeeder that Arnold is coding. KFeeder
is a dcop graphical prog that tells with an animation if the answer is good.
It's already well advanced.

- about a flashcard program: Geert thinks that such a prog would complement
nicely KLearnSpelling, KHangMan and KMessedWords.

- status of KOscillo: anyone knows about that?

- KTopo: see if we can have people to help with that

Personal projects related to general apps
- use common data for KHangMan, KMessedWords and KLearnSpelling. That data
already exist in Dutch. Cut the words in syllables for KMessedWords (Geert
Stams for Dutch words, I refer to Geert from now on)
Implement the code sent by Kevin to parse the words, change KMessedWords code
to allow it to use this data (keep the letters mode and add the syllables
mode), change KHangMan code to also use that data.
This data should be downloaded separately from the apps.

- HELP NEEDED: have a prog (as a lib?) that allows the teacher to manage the
scores of an app for each child in the class. This should not be accessed by
the child but only by the teacher (ideas to code that are very welcomed)

(end of the short part)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What I'd like to do for my own apps:

KLetters: HEAD
new features planned
- integrate more languages (Dutch and maybe more if the data is here) already
implemented for KDE2
- group all the buttons into a ToolBar at the bottom of the app)
- link KLettres to KFeeder which is a dcop graphical prog that tells with an
animation if the answer is good

KHangMan: HEAD
new features planned
- improve GUI
- implement use of data for several languages
(data common for KHangMan, KMessedWords and KLearnSpelling)

KTimes: kdenonbeta
New features planned
- maybe change the name: does KTimes suggest a multiplication app?
- change interface by adding graphical stuff
- add Learn functionality with several levels: use graphical animations to
help the child understand what a multiplication is regarded to an addition)
- change the editing of multiplication tables. Each table should be
selectable individually.
- Add practice levels (6)
- improve test mode (certificate to print when the child achieve a target)
- link KTimes to KFeeder?
All the ideas are there, suggested by a teacher. Coding them is quite easy
but the GUI is always a problem for me.

KLearnSpelling: kdenonbeta
NEED HELP ON THE FOLLOWING
maybe as an edu-lib:
Implement a prog for the teacher to manage his class
the teacher should be able to
- write the names of the children in his class
- to see the score of each child regarding KLearnSpelling (KLS for short)
- to print names + score
When the child runs KLS, he'll log into his name.
That could be used for other apps.

New features:
- use a menubar and a toolbar
- improve the GUI
- see what mistakes the child has made, enabling targetted remedial teaching.

That's all for now.......... Congratulations if you read it all ;)

Have a nice Easter week-end!

annma
