I'd say no. The power that comes out wall sockets, etc., is termed "mains
electricity", or the "mains supply."
Perhaps to avoid confusion, if this is a country-specific colloquialism (it
would be understood by anyone in the UK), perhaps say "...is running on
external power." That sounds a little too techy to me, but I can't think of
anything better at the moment.
