I think it would be cool if there were a kfind ioslave, as well as a kpart.  
The ioslave would do the actual finding work, and the kpart would handle the 
gui aspect, gathering the options and arguments then passing them along to 
the ioslave.  One big advantage of that would be that other parts of kde or 
other apps could very easily use the funtionality of kfind (the ioslave) 
without having to display the dialog.  I'm not sure if this would be a better 
idea than just putting kfind in kdelibs like you said, but it just seems more 
nifty.

Also, I think it would be better if the find dialog were somehow put into the 
konqueror sidebar, it looks kind of wierd where it is right now (above the 
main view), but that is probably more of a konqueror thing than a kfind thing.

if you need any help working on this, I would be glad to help out, although I 
am kind of new at programming KDE.
