Subject:    "Pixelized" ugly font in a few places

From a long time ago now, some large fonts looks very ugly in a few places,
like when using Alt+Tab, see http://users.swing.be/kdeprint/alttab.png.
Can I do something to correct this?

My system:
X version: XFree86-4.0.3
Video card: Mach64 3D Rage Pro
AA: No (not supported by Mach64 X server)
