greets.

i have now tried *all* the available background programs with cvs of 
this morning. in every case, the programs start correctly, but when 
they time out and refresh, the new image does not appear. this 
includes xplanet and kworldwatch; kwebdesktop, best i can tell, never 
does anything.

this is something that entered the code sometime since last week, 
when last i rebuilt cvs.

if anyone who is working on this cannot reproduce it, i'll happily 
answer any questions or perform any tests they'd like in hope of 
tracking this down.
