Not too sure, but I think that this might be related...

Until yeterday, my system (Debian potato + Qt 2.3.0 and XFree86 4.0.3) 
was running KDE 2.1.1 all compiled from source.

Yesterday I checked kdelibs out of CVS because I needed a newer kdelibs 
in order to compile Knode from CVS. I deliberately overwrote the 
existing kdelibs (2.1.2) because I was not expecting there to be a 
problem with it.

However I experience those crashes as well now -- Kmail crashes when 
opening config, KControl crahes after changing between different config 
tabs. I can't reproduct any KOnqueror crash though -- at least when 
pointing it at the web sites (e.g. koffice.org) on my local httpd.
