From kde-devel Thu Jun 07 18:20:45 2001 From: Ellis Whitehead Date: Thu, 07 Jun 2001 18:20:45 +0000 To: kde-devel Subject: Now 2 Default Key Schemes X-MARC-Message: https://marc.info/?l=kde-devel&m=99196593417879 There are now two default key schemes: the traditional 3-modifier setup (alt/ctrl/shift) and a new additional 4-modifier setup (meta/alt/ctrl/shift). You can select between the two in KControl | Look and Feel | Key Bindings. A new KDE installation will default to the 4-modifier setup if the keyboard has a Meta key, and the traditional 3-modifier setup otherwise. Also, under KControl | Look and Feel | Window Behavior | Actions is now the option of using the Meta key instead of the Alt key for moving/resizing/etc the window with the mouse. (Now GIMP users don't just have to turn the options to 'Nothing'!) Unfortunately, everyone with a Meta key who wants to keep the Alt-key attached to the window move/resize/etc actions will have to go into KControl and explicitly set it back to Alt. There are a couple minor issues with the Key Bindings dialog that i'm aware of: 1) the 4-modifier setup shouldn't be selectable if X reports no Meta key; 2) the option of selecting a 4-modifier setup under Application Shortcuts is currently superfluous, 3) buttons are poorly aligned at the bottom and the 'Default Key' label needs to be changed, and 4) the 'Prefer 4-Modifier Defaults' button isn't saving it's state. I'll get to those tomorrow. Regards, Ellis >> Visit http://master.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-devel#unsub to unsubscribe <<
