Well, I wanted to develop it further, but I don't have much time at the 
moment. kvidmode was intended to not only switch resolutions in XFree86, but 
also set gamma values and (as root) define your own resolutions and select 
your monitor (from an xml monitor database), which then is directly written 
to the XF86Config. I already got the xml parser, a converter that converts 
suse's sax database to xml, an XF86Config parser using lex/yacc and a very 
basic control module for video mode/gamma/monitor settings as well as the 
system tray icon for fast video mode selection.
Wold it be a good idea to add it to kdenonbeta? Perhaps there is someone who 
wants to help a bit (It's my first kde project).
