Hi,

after I've succeded in compiling qt-2.3.0, I wanted to compile KDE 2.1.1,
but I could not convince any configure script to use the Intel compiler (icc).
For example I changed the Makefile template in kdesupport to write icc
instead of gcc or g++ each time, the package compiled without any errors, but did
not create any shared libraries. Only the static ones have been build. I've
also set a soft link from icc to gcc, but I could not fake the configure
script. Setting the soft link after having run the configure script was also
futile because of some compiletime scripts.

Is there a way to force the script to use the icc and configure kde for
shared libraries?

I am sure icc is able to compile kde, because i do not think you use inline
assembly instructions for kde.

I'am not a developer, not yet, and my skills are rudementary. That's why I
am asking this forum.

Thanks
Christoph Bartoschek
