OK, count me as #6 or #7 ... my help kio-slave still dies from time to time.
I don't know why it worked yesterday -- maybe it depends on the moon phase ...
How can I debug this? When I get the error message it's already too late
for a BT!?

PS: could we please have the error message changed to "The help kio-slave died
    expectedly"?    :->
