The cancel isn't needed. (You could click next to the menu or press escape)

Apart from that, the style guide covers drag & drop behaviour. The default is 
to show a menu (with Move/Copy in this case). If you press ctrl during the 
drag it copies without showing a menu. If you press shift it moves without 
showing a menu.
