Hi Alex,

I've had very similar bug reports for KPilot, where it crashed while
loading icons in read_png_image() as well (main difference was that I was
loading them myself with KIconLoader::something()) even though there was
never a png image anywhere *near* KPilot. I sorted it out by just using
hardcoded xpm's, but this is a truly bad idea in terms of eye-candy. And
it's not an option for you, since you use KAction.

You might want to try loading the icon by hand (using SmallIcon()) for
example and stracing the program to find out what exactly is going on.
Should you find it, I'm game for the solution.
