Subject: SHOW STOPPER printing on remote printer does not use local if filter
From: f.gassauer@aon.at

Package: kde
Version: unknown (KDE 2.1 post Beta 2 (>= 20010128))
Severity: grave
Installed from: CVS 29.1.2001
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
OS: Linux 2.2.16 i686 (compiled sources)

Hi!
printing from kword, konqueror etc to a remote printer
seems to bypass the local if inputfilter and prints the
ps-file as plain text.

There is not aps filter installed on the remote printer
server (SCO-Unix).

printing from kwrite and netscape works as well as sending
the printfile to the remote printer with 'lpr -P printer
file' and 'cat file | lpr -P printer'.

see also thread on kde-devel

may be a QT issue.

IMHO this has to be solved to conform to network
transparency.
