All printing on UNIX systems is done, by tradition,
using the PostScript page description language,
understood by the more expensive printers.
Of course, not everybody has such a printer. Therefore,
a utility called 'ghostscript' is called to convert
your PS file to a printer file.
Normally you set this up using (on RedHat/Mandrake)
'printtool'. You define a printer queue and print
your postscript file using 'lpr -P<queuename> <file.ps>'.
Many apps, like koffice, can do this for you. The queue
then is responsible for the conversion.
I just checked and there are some dot matrix printers
that 'printtool' knows. Just try them.

Other distro's may have another printing utility,
of course. But most of themhave a large array of
'printer drivers' to choose from.

If you have more questions concerning this, give me
a private e-mail.

Regards,
Leon

Undefined behaviour: It works in the debug phase, it works
during testing, and it blows up in your customers' face.
