| I think what our friend is talking about is the competition between a
| lot
| of Linux programmers and Micro$oft to see who can release the buggiest
| software.
| I myself prefer KDE 1.1.2 over KDE 2.0.1 any day of the week. KDE 2 has
| problems everywhere that should NOT be in a release. If you want an
| example, Konqueror.
| Did anyone test it, or is it still in alpha?

David, you are not correct here.
KDE2 (under it I understand kdesupport+kdelibs+kdebase) has no *general*
problems.
Konqueror doesn't crash for me (while MS IE 5.0, which is ver 5 !! pls. note,
if is not crashing but *not responding* from time to time)
And, I can easily run 10 copies of Konqueror on my Linux, while 10 copies of
IE reduces available resources under Windows 98 to 15%...
Once, I have seen even Windows Message Box saying:"Can't draw canvas"
System resources were at 0% (god! and I have 128MB RAM!)

Konqueror runs well on W3C-compliant sites.
Yes, many sites are not W3C-compliant, I know. That's why now developers
trying to get support for them as well.
And, many non-W3C-compliant sites work correctly with Konqueror now.

|
| Programmers need to test their programs one step at a time so they don't
| release a buggy program with the excuse, "It is still in testing." Lame
| excuse.
| Freedom of choice is good except when all the choices suck.

IMHO, programs are tested by Beta-Testers, not Programmers.
And, feel free to test and report bugs about KDE 2.x

It's really problem when somebody comes and , without filing any bug to
bugs.kde.org, says: "KDE2 is bad. KDE 2.0 is a bug itself ..."
You haven't paid any penny/cent for KDE2, how you can blaim it?!..

Do you have Arial font installed? Just test it!
