I've run into the very same problem when compiling KDE the last week - you
have to upgrade your glibc; the one I had was missing the STL altogether. 
Unfortunately, it turned out to upgrade almost the whole system because of
the dependencies between the RPM's.

And, if it's really version 1.90, I strongly suggest to upgrade.
