please check http://gcc.gnu.org before making such a statement
the C++ support has been improved greatly both in c++ standard and 
performances.
gcc 3.0 will be great!
if you check the cvs activity of g++ you will notice that it may be the most 
active part (or one of the most active) of the gcc.
