RPM 4 won't help you, unless you want to update glibc ad libstdc++, as
well.
rpm versions 3.0.5 and higher can read rpm 4 source packages, so you can
just get that and recompile.

I'm also building 6.2 packages, but it'll take a while (my only remaining
6.2 box is slow...)
