Not too verbose:

configure:8756: checking for main in -lpam_misc
configure:8771: gcc -o conftest -g -ansi -W -Wall -pedantic -Wshadow
-Wpointer-arith -Wmissing-prototypes -Wwrite-strings -D_XOPEN_SOURCE
-D_BSD_SOURCE conftest.c -lpam_misc -lpam -ldl 1>&5
configure:8797: checking for PAM
configure:9043: checking for main in -lshadow
configure:9058: gcc -o conftest -g -ansi -W -Wall -pedantic -Wshadow
-Wpointer-arith -Wmissing-prototypes -Wwrite-strings -D_XOPEN_SOURCE
-D_BSD_SOURCE conftest.c -lshadow 1>&5
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lshadow

And ../../configure --enable-debug:
checking for main in -lpam_misc... yes
checking for PAM... no
checking for main in -lshadow... no

Or is this all okay after -lpam_misc works? Anyway screensavers work with
passwords here, I just ran configure a few minutes before I read that mail
and recalled "PAM... no", must have been the three caps. If this is all
bogus, I blame excessive sleep deprivation.
