I personally have never seen any site that's not MS themselves use VBScript. 
And I can count the ones with ActiveX and no equally good looking alternative 
with one hand provided I can remember any. So, IMVHO your arguments about 
what users want and don't care are absolutely valid, but please let's not 
port the security holes ActiveX dug. Besides I consider VBScript's syntax 
terrible and not to be propagated, but that's another thing...
By adopting a standard of which the sole reason of existance is to stick 
users to Windows and IE, you only encourage its use on more sites. That's 
scary. And I don't mean this only political, I'm more concerned over security 
you won't have with ActiveX let be a million certificates.
Just another 1/2 cent, sorry for growing this thread even longer.
