Hiya,

I think the user interface of KFind is not very good and I would like to see
it improved. The major problem of kfind seems to be that it tries very hard
to be an application while it is much more a tool.

If you do not know what I mean take a look at KDE's color dialog. You can
find a stand alone version in kdegraphics/kcoloredit/kcolorchooser. The color
dialog is a tool. Even if you run it as stand alone application, it still is
a tool. You can keep it around, you can use it to interact with other
applications. It is a tool and it has a single very defined task "choosing
colors".

KFind should be the same. KFind should be a tool with a very define task:
"finding files".

Currently KFind tries to be an application. This is what I propose to turn
it into a tool:

* Get rid of the menu bar and tool bar, make the application a dialog.

* Add a search button.

* Add a close button.

* Remove the "Add to archive" functionality. If you want to manipulate
archives start ark and drag files from kfind to ark.

* "Open file" and "Properties" should move to a RMB menu.

* Remove "browse directory".

* Add a "Save results" button, it should show a "Save as" dialog in which the
user can choose to save as text or html.

* Remove "key configuration" and "preferences".

Cheers,
Waldo
