The fix was in the proxy kcontrol module. The code in there was saving the
proxy settings with the wrong key.

Everyone using the beta release just needs to edit his
~/.kde/share/config/kioslaverc and change the HttpProxy key to
httpProxy. Then proxy support will work in the beta, too. (the same
applies to the ftp proxy settings) .

(oh, you have to restart your session to make the changes work)
