It is, but now kmapnotify is a c file (kio/kmapnotify.c), so it can't use kdecore's fake.
I guess it should do putenv("LD_PRELOAD="), putenv("KDE_INITIAL_DESKTOP="), etc.
Can you try changing it and see if it works ?
