This is not a KDE problem but a printer setup problem, due to the fact, that 
QPrinter apparently needs a DVI filter which is/was not in the general 
apsfilter setup.

I added a line to my printer in /etc/printcap
it's just a copy of the if: line 
:df=/d2/download/apsfilter/filter/aps2-cdj550-a4-auto-default:\
obviously the directory has to be changed  to the local settings

I do not know who's job it is to coordinate this, but I'd ask Andreas to add 
this line to his setupscript.
