all went together well here, but for an error having to do with 
kdelibs/kwrite; kpackage as usual refusing to build; koffice blowing 
up pretty spectacularly (and surprisingly). but even kdepim built. 
none of the docbook stuff builds, though i think i have everything 
installed that's supposed to be. lotsa real quick fullscreen error 
messages!

trying to decide if this is a compiler issue; i don't think it is. if 
memory serves, egcs-2.91 = gcc-2.95, no?
