It is supposedly automatic.
Try removing inst-apps, see http://www.kde.org/compilationfaq.html

Hmmm... my comment about inst-apps doesn't apply then... Really strange.
Isn't libkonq first in 'subdirs' ?
Probably a bug in my Makefile.common stuff then :(

Use -system-libpng when compiling Qt.
