I need to send a signal from my app to an embedded KPart.

Specifically, I need to do something like:

part->setIndex(const QDict<something> &);

Do I cast the part to its actual type
e.g. static_cast<EmpathMessageListPart *>(thePart);

or do I do it some other way, using a KAction that isn't plugged
in anywhere ? or.. ?
