This is even weirder - you know that you don't have
to start dcopserver anymore, and that it is started
by kdeinit, right ?

Is kdeinit running ? What 'modules'  did it start ?

About the ksycoca segfault : does
rm ~/.kde/share/config/ksycoca
help ?

Strange that kbuildsycoca would keep running - it's supposed to
exit quite quickly. Does it really run, or does it just think so ?
