So that nobody can come along later and try to patent this very interesting 
idea for dynamic icons, we should aggressively claim this prior art for the 
open source community :-).

And if we were being serious, and wanted to make some money out of licensing 
this idea, we'd have to invent some whacky-sounding name for this feature 
(how about "DynaiKon", with the K for KDE)?

And no, this is not a serious suggestion.
