As you might be aware of, existing eduware is a key feature of desktops
for hooking up schools - and hooking up schools is a key for getting the
next generation of users used to a particular desktop. Unfortunately there
isn't much of it available for KDE. Let's try to change that. ;-)

To write good eduware much more than just hackers is needed. You need:

Teachers
who give the input of *what* is really needed, what makes sense and what
is just nonsense.

Hackers
to write the code.

Artists
to produce good (animated)graphics/videos for educational games, positive
and negative feedback and the like. This isn't just about icons.

Musicians
for good sound effects.

I for instance could write the code for a trainer for times tables that
adjusts to the skills of a kid in a couple of days but can't provide the
necessary graphics and sounds. And there's not much input from teachers
needed on this one. (International) vocable trainers are more difficult
and eduware for physics, history and the like definitely needs input from
people in education.

This is a call to get at least some hackers interested in the issue. Maybe
someone with write permissions can forward this to the user lists kde@ and
kde-user@ where teachers and others can pick it up.
