I know - it's especially bad as it is prepared for swallowing and has
no title bar etc.

They've got no consideration ;-)
At least DOM2 etc. are documented, one of the big problems with
implementing the peer classes is that you need to basically reverse
engineer a spec because Sun hasn't written one.
