Ok, I've managed to reproduce the bug. The problem seems to be that the
applet widget isn't getting a signal from KWinModule when the applet
window is shown. I think this might be some sort of race condition, the
protocol used to communicate with the jvm is currently far from perfect,
and there are a couple of places where things can potentially get
confused. I think a quick fix might be to add a sleep statement to the
classloader (yuck!) but I'll look at things in more detail and try to
find a better solution.
