KMidi has an *euhm* interesting structure. 

Could it be that the "name" of the application (thisapp->name()) is
somehow different from "kmidi"?

Something else I can think of is that the fork() in pipe_open()
confuses DCOP and messes up the communication.

I will have a look once I have it compiling. (This may take a while
since I just switched compilers).
