A typical KDE process requires 1.5Mb if you compile Qt with exception
support and approx. 0.5 Mb if you compile Qt and kdelibs without
exceptions.

This is just the overhead. Memory actually used for something is not
yet part of this. (numbers based on egcs1.1.2)

I call that rather expensive.
