Well, there is a copyright on it. That's automatic.

Everything I write is copyrighted by me, and everything you write is
copyrighted by you.
The point of making it LGPL is that if someone modifies it, he has to
release it under the LGPL too.

The same thing happens with header files, which also define an interface,
doesn't it?
