I've been meaning to stick this link on the docs page, but since it came up
here too:
Macmillan Publishing has the complete text of many of their books online at
pbs.mcp.com. In particular, "Teach Yourself CORBA in 14 Days" is a pretty
good beginning book on CORBA that has some useful material. Check it out at
http://pbs.mcp.com/ebooks/0672312085/viewabookab.html. They might ask you
to register, but it's all definitely free.
They also have "Teach Yourself C++ in 21 Days" at
http://pbs.mcp.com/ebooks/0672310708/viewabookab.html for those of you who
have/had C++ questions. Not the all-time best reference books, but very
usable, and quite free.
A fantastic CORBA book is "Advanced CORBA Programming in C++", published by
Addison Wesley. Very thorough reference, but also readable. 1100+ pages.
It'll run you about US$55.
Good luck!
