or even better allow it to be renamed on the desktop just like any other 
folder (make it intuitive to the naive user, don't invent a new mechanism) - but
keep a known symbolic link from ~/Desktop (like "~/Desktop/.trash" ? :-)
pointing to the folder that we think is the 'trash' since it does have some
unique properties
