  Well, they can trademark Thrash exactly like they can trademark Apple.

  Although, as far as I know, in these cases they must show this
explicitly: like drag the file to Thrash (tm).

  Actually, I think that it is easy to check if they've trademarked it, or
not. There are a lot of other thinks like this:

  mouse --> proposed replacement: rat, hampster
  window --> door, balcony, ????
  button --> handle

  So, it was some discussion about a Latin translation of KDE?

  This think strikes me ridiculous. The trademark identifies the company:
it guarantees that your Puma shoes are made by Puma in Taiwan, and
protects the company from the other who name their shoes Poma (made in
Taiwan).

  But Thrash is just a name, it will be translated to the corresponding
thing in German, French etc. This is not a mark, it is a name. I think
that the company lawyers in a number of cases are definitively just taking
shots in the dark, without having anything supporting their claims.

  I would definitely agree to not provide MacOS, BeOS named themes, that
is capitalizing on their work and advertisement. But I think renaming
thrash is ridiculous.

               Lotzi
