Of course, it is impossible to know for *sure* how many KDE users there are... but I think it is safe to say millions. One quick rule of thumb goes like so: There are an estimated 12 million Linux users. Nearly all polls I've seen about "window managers" put KDE usage at about 60% This is over 7 million users. Even if ALL of the polls are wrong are we only have a 10% market share, it is *still* over a million users. 'Nother rule of thumb: all new distributions besides Debian include KDE. Sales of these distros is in the millions. 'Nother rule of thumb: Martin can probably bring out the FTP logs from the MASTER server (not counting *any* mirrors!).. but if my memory holds, we are talking about GIGAbytes of data every month. Note that this doesn't include mirrors and doesn't include those people getting KDE from CD-ROM (the majority, I think). Estimating how *many* millions is tricky.. but I think it's pretty much guaranteed that the marketshare is at least *in* the millions... -- Kurt Granroth | granroth@kde.org KDE Developer/Evangelist | http://www.pobox.com/~kurt_granroth KDE -- Putting a Friendly Face on Linux
