I still do not have a working HEAD (cannot compile mico), but I'll test this
ASAP.
BTW, I've released libsmb 1.0pre yesterday, but it's not in kdesupport because I
fear it might break compilation of kio_smb. 
If you need it before my workstation in OK (might take some time), I can commit
to kdesupport, and try to adapt kio_smb "blindly" (should be quite easy, API
hasn't changed very much).
