Hi all,

It's been a busy weekend full of going through ImageMagick code, talking to
various developers of different projects, and answering a lot of email but
what I have essentially come up with is we are going to need a new advanced
canvas class for KDE if we want advanced graphics applications. Requirements
would be the capability to handle multiple layers, views, and color channels.

This is a large task to do well and if we want it to get done in a reasonable
amount of time and not suck it is going to require a few developers to work on
it. Thus I think all of us who are interested in having sophisticated graphics
applications like KImageShop and KPaint II get together, layout an
implementation, and go from there. We have some existing code we can use from
other KDE apps, so we won't be starting entirely from scratch.

We will be able to use the ImageMagick effects and such immediately by
providing convertToPixmap() and constructors that take KPixmaps, but looking
at it and other image manipulation programs it is becoming apparent that we
need a new canvas to be able to take full advantage of this stuff. We can't
just use an array of bytes like an XImage.

So if you are intrested lets all get together and start something :)
