I think your proposal is excellent news. There definitely are applications
where antialiased fonts are a must. And I believe there will exist people
willing to help with the speed optimization.

Of course, we all wait eagerly to see antialiasing implemented directly in
the X server (does this appeal to you? ;0)

I hope you subscribed (or will soon) to kde mailing lists.
